A Reason and A Right to Praise the Lord

“Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; Sing praises to His name, for it is

pleasant. For I know that the Lord is great . . .” (Psalm 135:3 & 5, NKJV)

Psalm 135 is a Psalm of praise. The Psalmist begins this song with the words,

“Praise the Lord” and ends the Psalm with the words, “Praise the Lord.” In the

midst of the Psalm, the Psalmist gives various reasons why we should praise the

Lord. One, because of who God is; two, because He is the creator of all things;

and three, because of what He does and has done for His people.

We too can echo the words of the Psalmist, “Praise the Lord.” First, simply

because of who He is. Secondly, because He is the creator and sustainer of all

creation. And, thirdly, because of what God has done in our own individual lives.

We, like the Psalmist can declare up front, “Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good”

and we can end our discussion with “Praise the Lord.” When we look over our

lives and think about what God has done for us, a praise will come forth from our

spirit, for like the Psalmist, we too can declare, “I know that the Lord is great.”

In all of who God is and what God has done for us, we cannot let anything or

anybody keep us from giving God the praise, the glory and honor He rightly

deserves. Do not allow your problems to rob you of your praise. Do not let man

keep you from giving God the praise. You cannot stop praising Him and you

should not stop praising Him. When you get right down to it, you have both A

REASON AND A RIGHT TO PRAISE THE LORD.
