"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God" (2 Corinthians 1:3-4, NKJV)
Isn’t it wonderful to know that we have a God who is there to comfort us when we go through and are going through life’s difficulties? It is a blessing just to be reassured that no matter what we go through, our heavenly Father is right by our side letting us know we are going to make it. We can do it. The battle is not ours, but His. We are never alone. We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. When we need Him, He is always there. Yet, we must always remember, “to whom much is given, much is required.”
As we are comforted, God expects us to give comfort (encouragement) to others as well. Sometimes, we get so busy and so self-absorbed until we forget that someone else is in need of a word of encouragement as well. As we have been comforted we should, in turn, comfort someone else. Let us not be so busy that we do not make an effort and take the time to be a blessing of comfort to someone who is hurting, depressed, distressed or troubled. We must always remember, we are COMFORTED TO GIVE COMFORT.
