DON'T GO BACK TO HEROD

"Then, being divinely warned in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another way." ( Matthew 2:12 NKJV)

This verse of scripture informs us that after the birth of Jesus the wise men, who came from afar to meet the baby Jesus, were informed in a dream that they should not return to Herod the king because Herod intended harm to the Child. If Herod had his way, he would have killed Jesus, thus leaving the world without a savior.

The message for us today is that we also, should not go back to Herod. Many of us are evaluating our lives and seeking to rid ourselves of things, and people, that are not edifying and unnecessary. Yet, the temptation to return to the familiar is great. It is always easier to go back to the familiar, then it is to go forward into the unknown. But hear this word, DON'T GO BACK TO HEROD!

Herod represents all those things in your past or present life that would kill the Savior in you. Herod is that person or thing in your life trying to stop you from being the man or the woman God purposed you to be. Herod is that thing or those things that work to bring you down, impede your progress or halt your success. Herod wants to destroy your dreams and aspirations. Herod wants you to always be subjugated and enslaved to its tyranny over your life, while Jesus came to set you free.

DON'T GO BACK TO HEROD! Don't go back to what does not edify. Don't go back to what does not respect you or the God in you. Don't go back to those things that keep you from being the best that you can be. Decide, declare and decree that you are moving forward in your life and only allow those people and things in your life that build you up, push you forward and encourage you to destiny. DON'T GO BACK TO HEROD!
