“Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” (Psalm 27:14, NKJV)
Ever since I was very young I heard the old saints admonishing us through this scripture to “wait on the Lord.” They would tell us, “Just wait on the Lord and watch the Lord make a way out of no way.” I thank God for their encouragement and their faith.
Yet, as I have matured in the Lord, I have learned something else from this scripture. The scripture says, “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart . . .” Through my experiences with the Lord and the revelations I have received from this verse, I have learned that God might not always “Make a way out of no way.” Sometimes God will make you over so you can handle the way. The scripture says, “He will strengthen your heart.” We often look for God to “fix” or remove our problems, but sometimes God will just fix us to handle the problem. He strengthens our heart, our will, our mind, our faith, our character, so we can deal with what He does not move. Ironically, when a person pushes through adversity, opposition, fear and struggle, we say, that person “has heart.” Well, God will strengthen your heart so you can push through your adversity, fears, opposition and struggles also, if you will just trust and wait on Him.
Therefore, I too, admonish you, as the old saints encouraged me, “Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, and HE WILL, STRENGTHEN YOUR HEART!
