“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (Psalm 34:1 NKJV)
This is another one of my favorite verses in the Psalms. It was written by David, king of Israel, as an expression of his praise to God for all the many dangers and trials God brought him through. When David thought about the favor of God on and in his life, he declared that he would bless and praise God “at all times."
Many people will only praise, thank, and glorify God when times are well. They will praise when they have what they want or when everything is going their way. Yet, the true test of your faithfulness and devotion to God is when you can praise Him "at all times." Even during the worst of times. Even in times of uncertain, sickness and national and global crisis like we are currently faced with. This is the time to bless the Lord.
Let us all make the declaration of David this day and for the rest of our lives. There is always something to be thankful and to bless the Lord for. If you cannot find anything in the present, think about how God brought you in the past. I say it often, "if God brought you, you ought to know that God will bring you." And even if things are not going the way you would like, remember, God is still worthy of your praise. Praise is an intentional act. Throughout this day, do not forget to take some time to praise and thank the Lord. No matter what life holds for us, let us BLESS THE LORD AT ALL TIMES.
