"For a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again, . . ." (Proverbs 24:16, NKJV)
You know, one of the major tricks of the enemy is to keep us feeling guilty for our past mistakes. Satan knows if he can keep us in bondage to our past, we can hinder our own progress and keep ourselves from reaching our God given, God ordained destiny. Trust me, I have been there. Thinking that I failed God so bad and had fallen so low, that there was no way I was going to be forgiven and get back up again. But praise God for His mercy and grace that declared, “you are forgiven.” “You are cleansed.” “You are set free.” There are many verses of Scripture that remind us that God's mercy is everlasting and His grace endures from generation to generation.
I love the song by the noted gospel recording artist Donny McClurkin that says, "We fall down, but we get up." The good news is that we may fall, but we, through the grace and mercy of God, have the right and the power to "get back up again."
You may have fallen in some way in your walk with God. You may have even let yourself down in some way from something you said you would or would not do. Yet remember the words of this verse and apply it to your life, "a righteous man may fall seven times And rise again." Do not let guilt and shame stop or hinder your progress to destiny. Do not allow the enemy of your soul to hold you captive to your past. You may have fallen down, but now IT'S TIME TO GET BACK UP.
