Living on the Promises

“by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises . . .” (II Peter 1:4, NKJV)

In this verse Peter wants us to know and always remember that the Christian life is a life lived on the promises of God. Our lives are not lived on or by the circumstances we are faced with. We live on the promises of God, not on what we see or what is going on around us.

It is easy to become frustrated, depressed, angry and even bitter if we respond to our circumstances as they are. Dealing with irritating people and never ending problems are just a part of life. Yet, the task for every child of God is to not let the outside get in the inside. What must speak louder than any of our problems, the promises of God. It is the promises that give us hope in times of hopelessness, peace in times of confusion and joy in times of sorrow.

Remember, your life is not lived on what you see or what happens around you, your life is lived on the promises of God. So if someone asks you the question, “What are you living by?” or “How are you doing?”, tell them, you are LIVING ON THE PROMISES!
