PILLARS THAT MAKE YOUR HOUSE A HOME

"Through wisdom a house is built, And by understanding it is established; By knowledge the rooms are filled, With all precious and pleasant riches." (Proverbs 24:3&4, NKJV)

Solomon, the author of the book of Proverbs, in this verse lets us know how to build a strong home. Now we know that a home is made up of more than nice fixtures and plush furniture. A home is where there are the warm and caring spirits of those who reside within. Solomon wants us to know the pillars that make a house a home.

Solomon informs us that there are three main ingredients to establish a loving home; wisdom, understanding and knowledge. Let's look first at knowledge. Knowledge is information. Knowing the people you live with is important. Knowing their heart, their moods, their "love language" is critical for the next two of the three elements, understanding and wisdom. Understanding is critical, for with understanding we can prohibit and even defuse potential arguments and disagreements. Understanding why a person does what they do or why a person thinks the way they think will assist in establishing unity, love and forgiveness. Then there is wisdom. Wisdom in the home is important for it informs as to how to do, when to do and why to do certain things. Wisdom helps us to know the right time and way to say certain things so as to not cause confusion and contention. Both wisdom and understanding are necessary when dealing with those we live with because they both prohibit us from judging and acting presumptuously and prematurely.

These three keys, knowledge, understanding and wisdom are important to establishing a strong, prosperous and loving home. Let these three be the PILLARS THAT MAKE YOUR HOUSE A HOME.
