PUTTING FIRST THINGS FIRST

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Matthew 6:33, NKJV)

This is a familiar verse for those of us who are in the church. Jesus encourages His followers of that time, as well as us today, not to worry about our tomorrows. He assures us that God will meet our basic life necessities, if we have faith and make God our priority.

Making God priority in our lives is not a thing that comes naturally to most of us. Living in a society that encourages us to indulge ourselves in the excesses of life, with a "looking out for number one" mentality, we must fight within ourselves to consciously keep God in His proper place, as "head" of our lives. Not only that, but there are so many distractions and influences pulling on us and competing for our attention, that it is sometimes easy to forget to spend time with and seek God. Yet, we must not let the distractions win.

We must make a conscious decision and effort to keep God, and the things of God, as the number one priority of our lives. Our health, well-being, peace of mind, and prosperity all depend on our keeping God number one.

Therefore, in the midst of all the things that pull on you and compete for your attention, do not ever allow yourself to be so distracted or so busy that you do not spend time with God. He must be the number one priority in your life. Your life and well-being depend on you PUTTING FIRST THINGS FIRST.
