STRENGTHEN MY HANDS

"For they all were trying to make us afraid, saying, “Their hands will be weakened in the work, and it will not be done.” Now therefore, O God, strengthen my hands." (Nehemiah 6:9, NKJV)

This prayer of Nehemiah was spoken while he was challenged by his enemies for completing the work of building the wall of protection around Jerusalem. Nehemiah knew that the work was of most importance. He also knew he could not allow himself to be distracted or frightened from completing the work. He, therefore, prayed that God would strengthen his hands so that he would not fail at his task.

You too must know you have a job to do. You have a mission to fulfill. A God given task to complete. Where you are right now in life is part of the journey you are on to fulfilling your God given mission. Sometimes while on this journey to destiny we get frustrated, tire, fearful and even discouraged. Threats will come from every direction to tempt you to stop the work. In these times, you must have the mind of Nehemiah and ask the Lord to strengthen your hands for the work.

As with Nehemiah, the work that you are called to do must be completed because there are others who need it. The life you live and the journey you are on is a journey that will benefit the lives of others, both in the present and in the future. You can not give up, quit or fall away from completing your task. Therefore, when times get rough and the going seems sometimes unbearable, you must do as Nehemiah did. Call upon the God who gives you strength and say to Him, “Oh God, STRENGTHEN MY HANDS.”
