THE NAME WE CALL

"And when eight days were completed for the circumcision of the Child, His name was called Jesus, the name given by the angel before He was conceived in the womb. Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” (Luke 2:21; Acts 4:12 NKJV)

In the tradition of the Jews eight days after birth of a male child, the child is presented to the priest to be circumcised and the father gives the child his name. It was on this occasion that Joseph and Mary brought their Son to the priest to carry out the ceremonial custom, and the name Jesus was given. Because names have meaning in the Jewish culture, declaring in many cases the destiny of the child, the name Jesus, given by the angel Gabriel, was declared to be the name of the Son of God. The name Jesus means "Savior, Deliverer." Thus denoting His destiny.

We know that Jesus, because of His life, death and resurrected, "saved" every believer from his and her sins. PRAISE THE LORD! But isn't it also assuring to know that we can call the name JESUS and know that we can also be saved from our circumstances and situations? Isn't it wonderful to know when we call on the name of Jesus, in faith, He begins interceding on our behalf and deliverance invades our situation working in our favor?

"There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Whatever you are faced with today that seems insurmountable, call on the name of Jesus. When you call upon Him, you are invoking the presence of He who has all power in heaven and on earth. Therefore, be assured, there is power in His name. There is healing in His name. There is salvation in His name. There is deliverance in His name. When you are in your storm you will find peace when you call on His name. Call upon Him in faith, because when we need salvation, His name is THE NAME WE CALL.
