"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." (Philippians 4:8, NKJV)
You know, it is easy to think negatively. Anyone can do it. Everyone has done it. Thinking the worst of our situations, issues and even other people is one of the easiest things to do. But remember, we are not called to do the easy thing. We are called to do the godly thing. The godly thing begins with how we think. I often say it, “If we think right, we’ll do right.” Paul in this verse tells us the right way to think by telling us the things to think about. If we focus our thoughts on things that are just, pure, lovely, of a good report, things that are virtuous and worthy of praise, there will be no time or place for negativity to exist. Thinking good thoughts is a choice. You may not be able to control what happens outside of you or around you, but you can control how you think of those things. Let your thoughts be on good things. Choose from this day forward to think the best of every situation. “Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise . . . ,” these are the THINGS TO THINK ABOUT.
