Use What You've Been Given

“A man’s gift makes room for him, And brings him before great men.” (Proverbs 18:16, NKJV)

This is one of those verses of scripture that is quoted quite often but rarely demonstrated. In order to fully understand this verse one must also look at and acknowledge Ephesians 4:7, “But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.” This verse informs us that each one of us who are in Christ Jesus has a gift. God has endowed each of His children with a gift to be used to the benefit of all His children. You have a gift. The mission of each of us is to reach out to God through prayer, study and even fasting, to discover the gift or gifts that God has placed in us. It is that gift that God has given you that will promote, prosper and establish you.

What is your gift? What is that thing that God has placed in you that will lead you to be blessed and be a blessing to others? What is that unique thing that you have that is “your power to get wealth” (Deuteronomy 8:18), that will also allow you to edify someone else? That is the very thing that will make “room for you”, or in other words, “will be your place and contribution to the Kingdom of God.” You have at least one gift. The Word is clear, “to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.” You simply have to discover what your gift is and USE WHAT YOU’VE BEEN GIVEN.
