“We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak . . .” (Romans
15:1, KJV)
You know, we all have weaknesses in some areas of our lives. Every one of us is
strong in some ways, and weak in others. There are no perfect, sinless, without
limitation individuals. We all “fall short” in some area or another. Yet, we all have
strengths as well. Some are strong in one way, some are strong in other ways. We
all have strengths and we all have weaknesses.
We need to remember this as we relate to one another. None of us can afford to
denigrate, put down, ostracize or laugh at the weakness in someone else. Where I
am weak you might be strong. Where you are weak I might be strong. Just as sure
as my weakness could show up today, yours could be manifested tomorrow.
Therefore, as Paul admonishes us in this verse, the strong must “bear the
infirmities of the weak.”
We are to help one another so that our weaknesses do not conquer us but we
conquer them. It is my ministry to be strong for you when you are weak. It is your
ministry to be strong for me when I am weak. You hold me up, I’ll hold you up, as
we all hold each other up. In doing so weaknesses are turned into strengths and
failures become testimonies. The bottom line of what Paul instructs and I am
saying is, WE’VE GOT TO STRENGTHEN ONE ANOTHER.
