“Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; . . .” (Psalm
127:1, NKJV)
Some time ago I was blessed to attend a house dedication. The family that
occupied the new home invited friends, family, co-workers and various members
of their church to share in their wonderful new blessing.
While there, I over heard one of the persons in attendance commenting on how
well constructed the house was. After the compliment the person asked the
question, “who was your builder?” Immediately my thoughts went to this passage
of scripture, “Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; . .
.”
You see, too often we measure the beauty and value a house by the size, design,
cost, appearance and furnishings. Yet, what really makes a house a home is when
God resides within it. When the peace and the presence of God rest within a home,
that home is a thing of beauty.
Therefore, I will ask the same question that the gentleman asked that couple at the
house dedication, “Who is your builder?” Have you allowed God to build your
home? Have you invited Jesus in and made Him welcomed in your home?
Remember, unless the Lord builds the house, all the labor in lawn care, furnishings
and design are simply laboring in vain. WHO’S YOUR BUILDER?
